No specific moves are required for the dance – each clip opens with one dancer gently bopping away to Baauer's ‘Harlem Shake’ before the bassline drops and the scene cuts to everyone in the room frantically throwing themselves around.

Some wear fancy dress while others don hats and helmets - with comedic results.

Baauer released their dance track last year but only now has it gone viral. Dozens of people from office workers to firemen have filmed themselves doing The Harlem Shake, which is tipped to be overtaking Gangnam Style, and each video is stranger and wilder than the last.

“If you're paying 27k in fees over 3 years the last thing you want is to work hard, get good value for money, and increase your employability against the tens of thousands of other wannabe graduates from here and abroad in a shrinking jobs market.

No....what you really want for that kind of money is a 30 second self-promotional video.

Well done all - beacuse you're worth it.”

“Students in Nottingham are starting to do this type of thing in the street. The authorities need to act now before it gets out of hand.

    “"with comedic results"

Interesting definition of comedy. Creating YouTube videos with the express purpose of "going viral" pretty much guarantees that it won't.”
