ALT-FOLK singer-songwriter Marc Reeves is next to perform live and chat to Zoe Kirk on the Stealth sofa, for our weekly video showcase.

The 19-year-old music student from Chilwell, who also fronts raucous rock band DAX, has "a ridiculous CD collection."

History?

I've been writing music since I was a kid, and performing since I was about 13. I started learning guitar at around 10 or 11, and was in my first band at school with some mates, doing some (probably awful) Red Hot Chili Peppers covers. Since then I've played in various bands.

Describe your music and influences.

My main influences definitely come from pop, folk, alt-rock and blues rock. I have a ridiculous CD collection that spans old school hip-hop to math rock. I also have a thing for female singer-songwriters, like Laura Marling, Norah Jones, Sarah Blasko, Lisa Hannigan and Carole King.

What is the day job?

I'm a student at New College Nottingham studying a foundation degree in music technology. I fully intend to avoid the day job for as long as I can. I also run the BanneDHousE nights at Snug with two friends.

Claims to fame?

Apparently my mum took me to the doctor's when I was a baby and the guy who played Nick Cotton in EastEnders was in the queue. It's terrible but all I've got.

Which other Notts bands do you rate?

Long Dead Signal, Ghosts Wear Clothes, The Swiines, Adarna, Thousands of Reflections are all awesome. I really dig the hip-hop scene too, particularly Juganaut, Scor-zay-zee and Motormouf. Jake Bugg is one of my favourite singer-songwriters in Nottingham, and one to watch.

Next gig?

I'm doing a UK tour for my new album, Perfectly Fine, which I'll be launching in Nottingham soon.
