This is Nottingham

A TALENTED act on the local folk scene, singer-songwriter Owen Harvey performs live and chats to Zoe Kirk on this week's music video showcase.

Owen, who has supported Steve Earle, Nik Kershaw and Amy Studt, is usually backed on stage by The Adeys, playing a range of instruments.

You can see him next supporting Chesney Hawkes at The Maze on February 10.

Watch Owen chatting to Zoe on the Stealth sofa and performing an acoustic version of his track, City Lights:

History?

After learning my craft as a guitarist and songwriter, I decided to get out there and write/record my debut album, Disappearing Strangers, with the help of my great backing band The Adeys. I have been gigging around the UK recently supporting some really good acts, such as Nik Kershaw, Steve Earle, Amy Studt, Duke and The King and Jason Isbell. I started gigging at the back end of 2007 and was joined by The Adeys in 2008. We will be heading down to London to do dates down there.

Who plays what?

Russ Adey plays acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, Hammond organ and 12-string guitar, while James Adey plays acoustic and electric bass.

Describe your music and influences.

I often think it [my music] falls between the Americana and folk genres. I think my songs are heartfelt and provide people with little snapshots of the experiences I've had in my life, good or bad.

What are the day jobs?

I'm an employment adviser.

Claims to fame?

One was meeting my musical idol Steve Earle and the other was going for a few beers and a curry with Nik Kershaw before I supported him in a gig.

Which other Notts bands do you rate?

I'm a big fan of Becky Syson, I think she has some quality songs.

Next gig?

Supporting Chesney Hawkes at The Maze on February 10 then Roger Cline & The Peacemakers at the Maze on February 25.
