DO you recognise the man pictured here attempting to rob a Sneinton Post Office?

Detectives are appealing for help catching the man, who carried what looked like a Stanley knife and threatened to hurt a customer.

CCTV footage released by the police shows him entering the store at around 12.35pm on Thursday January 19.

He was dressed head-to-toe in dark clothing with his face covered, and demanded cash from the Postmaster.

He also pushed and threatened a 28-year-old woman.

The Postmaster activated an alarm and the man fled empty-handed in the direction of St Anns. No one was injured.

The CCTV footage reveals he got to the shop by walking along Devon Street and then onto Carlton Road.

He is described as being white, in his early to mid 20s, of slim build, and between 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins.

A Post Office spokesman said: “The Post Office takes the safety and security of those working in the Post Office network very seriously.

“This was a very distressing incident for all concerned and we would urge anyone who may have seen anything to contact the police.”
