United Europe is cunning plan
BARRY Morrison wrote that he thought the EU had "lost its way" ("EU has lost its way over years", July 22). Far from it, Barry, the reverse is true.
The EU has grown inexorably according to the plan which was first formulated in the 1920s by Frenchman Jean Monnet and English civil servant Arthur Salter. Central to their dream of a United States of Europe was a supra-national government, beyond the control of national governments, politicians or electorates.
Monnet realised it would not be possible to achieve this unless it was worked for by stealth, over many years.
Belgian Prime Minister P-H. Spaak conceived the idea of disguising the project as being based on removal of trade barriers, i.e. a common market.
Robert Schumann was just one of the many subsequent politicians who nurtured the plan along with many others, including M Giscard d'Estang, and Angela Merkel.
British politicians have weakly acquiesced in the plan, for example Tony Blair gave up our rights to veto, in return for reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, which did not happen.
Fifth columnists in this country, such as messrs Goodyer, Gretton, and Valentine, have ably assisted, with a constant flow of oft-repeated propaganda, such as denying the concept of indigenous Britons (Gretton); nonsensically claiming that the EU has prevented further wars since 1945 (Valentine), and that the EU has brought enormous benefits in trade (Goodyer), which was due to the common market, not the EU.
We can only hope that some future Government of Britain will have the courage to remove us from this unholy alliance.

“Very true. And none so unseeing as those who try to shoehorn every situation into some simple-minded paranoid scenario, because they are simply too dim to perceive anything more nuanced and complex.”

“None so blind as those who will not see, Doug from Munich, Ripleyite, and Mad Badger. The French and Dutch gave "no" votes in their referenda regarding the signing of the Lisbon Treaty - these votes were ignored. Sorry Beak, the will of the people is of no concern to our new masters. Goodyer's comment on bananas borders on the insane.”

“I like bananas - but they do not grow in Britain - are they undercover agents for the EU?”
