THE National Union of Teachers in Nottingham says many of its members are prepared to strike over proposed term-time changes.

The executive board of the city council is today set to decide on whether to implement the changes.

It would see the summer holiday cut from six weeks to five and a two-week break in October.

The move is a change from the council's original plan for a five-term school year.

But the NUT is still unhappy and yesterday revealed the results of a survey of members, which showed that 73 per cent opposed the changes and 70 per cent were prepared to strike.

The union claims the move would have a negative impact on children.
