'UFOs' spotted over Carlton
SEVEN orange lights were spotted in the night sky over Nottingham and Carlton resident Sally Slater is convinced they were UFOs..
They were seen at around 9.30pm on Sunday over Carlton.

This picture of the lights was taken by Sally Slater
Sally, who sent her photos to the Post, said she saw: "Seven orange balls flying in a cluster and then one on its own lagging behind slightly making no sound and then turning white."
John Schofield, of Coningswath Road, also saw them.

“I was at the wedding party and they WERE lanterns!!n These comments are absolutely hilarious though. Im not being funny but they were floating at about 5 miles an hour and there are people on here saying they were dashing round the sky. I THINK NOT!

“Dear All,
As much as I would love to be witness to a real UFO sighting, I can proudly say that the 8 lights over Carlton on Sunday night were infact lanterns.
I bought what was meant to be 10 but was infact only 8 (damn eBay) lanterns for my sisters second day of wedding celebrations.
I have no photos myself as I was too busy organising lift off, which turned out to be a military operation with so many drunken people!
7 lanterns went off without a hitch each with a wedding wish for the new happy couple, the 8th (which was damaged) eventually took off with a cheer!!
We had a lovely party and if I may say so myself I think the lanterns were the highlight of our evening, they did look magical but certainly not..alien!
Ps. Congratulations to my sisters Izabella and my new big brother Aidy!”

“Steve, Carlton - have a word mate! I'm all for conspiracy theories, but there's a time and a place.
Let's look at this logically. There were floating balls of fire in the sky. There are various people on here who have commented to say that they set these lanterns off at a wedding, people who were at the wedding, as well as the people getting married, who all confirm that these were floating lanterns.
The chances of them being UFO's in the first place were pretty slim. Combine that with all these eye-witnesses......is it really that hard to believe that these were just lanterns?
You come across as someone who likes to be open-minded, is there no way these people who are saying these were lanterns could just be telling the truth? Does everything have to be a conspiracy? Do you really think the Government's too bothered about a few mistaken people from Carlton thinking they saw a UFO? Seriously dude, have a good think about this, then stop your ranting.
It's mentalists like you that give "conspiracy theorists" a bad name.”

“There seems to be a lot of daft crirics in nottingham.
Where was this poxy wedding party because at 9.25 to 9.35 i watched an amazing show in the sky that travelled eratically ,effortlessly and silently through the sky coming from the south, probably ruddington way and finally accellerating to a fantastic speed going east carlton netherfield way.
a low flying fireball ,flamelike in appearance breaking into smaller segments of triangle and sphere shapes, regrouping then splitting again.
i have two photos of this that my wife and i witnessed togethter.
The first photo is an indication of position in the sky and not really that detailed, the second photo will "do your head in"
so forget your paper lampshades theory because that aint this.
If someone can be arsed to return my call from the evening post office i will forward the photos for the whole of notts to see.”
