UK Coal in wind farm deal
UK COAL has signed a deal with a property developer for wind farm projects that include sites in Notts.
Stonish Hill, Bilsthorpe – currently the subject of a planning appeal – is one of the sites.

Others include Harworth in north Notts, the former coal stocking ground at Rufford and at Thoresby, both near Edwinstowe.
UK Coal said today that the agreement with Peel Energy would identify, assess and potentially develop wind farms on sites within UK Coal's land portfolio.
Jon Lloyd, chief executive of UK COAL, said: "We believe there is significant opportunity to develop wind farms on parts of our land portfolio.
"This will accelerate our alternative power business while maintaining flexibility on the level of investment we make in it and without distracting us from our core mining operations."

“I am surprised that UK Coal, dont concentrate their effort a little closer home, such as decarbonisation of coal!....
Surely such is where their best business interests lie, and that of the Country too!.
Wind and Sea power prove to be an alternative short term.
However, long term demands, would prove difficult to sustain.”

“Also George
I have not seen you comment on the Tim Render debacle yet.
You being a staunch supporter of the council and all its plans i thought you might have some thing to say.”

“This is good news. We cannot depend on fossil fuels for ever.
The trouble is there will now be a massive NIMBY campaign, just like there was with the tram. However, common sense will prevail and hopefully we'll get wind powered trams, like in Calgery.”
