Trew: Rodgers wants to leave Magpies
LUKE Rodgers has told Notts County he wants to leave Meadow Lane to join New York Red Bulls.
But the Magpies' owner Ray Trew does not know if the 28-year-old striker's criminal record will scupper any deal with the MLS side.

Rodgers is wanted by former Notts' boss Hans Backe and Trew wants to strike a deal to sell him before the MLS transfer window closes on April 15 and then loan him back.
"I want to explore whether we can let Luke go and keep him on loan until the end of the season," said Trew.

"The lad wants to go because he has been offered a fantastic deal.
"I don't know whether he would only play a cameo role here next season. I suspect so."
Rodgers pleaded guilty to affray on September 30 last year at the Tantra bar in Nottingham.
He also pleaded guilty to escape from lawful custody after he ran from the bar after being arrested.
"It may affect his immigration, absolutely," added Trew. "America is pretty hot on that. If you've got a criminal record, you may not get a visa."
A spokesperson for the American Embassy in London said: "Immigration policy is applied on a case by case basis."
Notts have signed a two-year sponsorship deal with Lorien Resourcing that will see the company logo carried on the back of their shirts.

“I've never said that Hulk shouldn't post it's just that he needs to moderate his approach if he wants to be taken seriously. He does make some reasonable points from time to time it's just he undermines his credibility by coming across as a ranter whose main purpose in life is to slate NCFC. Calling Notts 'an abomination' is frankly silly. And believe it or not Hulk wasn't a lone voice of reason during the Munto saga. Many County fans weren't surprised by the turn of events. Hulk's motivation however seemed to be prompted to by seething hatred which is why he was/is often treated with contempt by many County posters on here. Hulk didn't know Munto was a scam he slated it because it was to do with County. If you shout your mouth off for long enough you're going to get something right eventually. Even the blind pig finds the odd acorn.”

“I'm not that familiar with the ins and outs of the proposal. It sounds like something like that could help, if only to raise awareness of how far removed clubs have become from their supporters. The free market approach has been very successful for English football at the top level in some respects - it's the most popular league in the world, it attracts most of the best players, the standard is very high, but at the same time it has opened a gulf between the top and the rest which is proving debilitating for other clubs, even ones with a good fanbase and history of achievement (eg Forest - a top ten club at least for years but now spending millions just on the off chance of getting a season or two at the top table).
There are problems with the proposal though, not least that It contravenes FIFA regulations about clubs allowing third party (ie government) interference in the way they are run. Plus most clubs run with supporters trusts etc involved haven't been exactly that successful at least in terms of league position so most fans probably aren't keeping their fingers crossed that some day their clubs are going to be run by supporters. Say Forest were run according to their means (ie on a money in/money out basis). In other words take away Doughty's millions over the last few years. Where would they be right now? Probably struggling to avoid third tier football if not already in it for a good long time. Having big spending owners come into clubs may seem like 'cheating' to some, but it does provide mobility which makes things more interesting and can stimulate growth in a club which in turn can generate more income. You just don't get that when supporters are involved as the Doughty's of this world are unlikely to want to be sharing power with them. For all the travails this season most County fans aren't pining for the pre Munto era. But on the other hand we could have easily gone to the wall and it was the supporters trust who saved us from oblivion last time. It's a hard choice all round.”

“'that County would be going out of existence. Once you were proved conclusively wrong.'
No offence but you all dissed him for months and he turned out to be right in the end, he said from day one the munto deal was a scam and he was proven right in the end.
Notts are far from safety still as we speak and could end up out of existence still in a few months or next year. So don't tempt fate mate.
I know he writes some drivel but he has hit the nail on the head and been proven right more times than you lot of armchair pundits on this site.
Throw abuse at him all you like but Hulk, I do like reading your opinions now after everything you said about Notts County came true so keep posting.”

“Dr Fegg - I see your point about creditors, administration and the way fans are treated...
But I wanted to ask, did you see the proposition that th labout party have been talking about?
Something on thr lines that 25% of the club has to be owned by a fans committee.
Do you think something like that would help?”

“Dear Hulk
I read your comments - and I think you are a very bitter person. This morning you made very nasty comments about Notts Couny and now you blame your unemployment on the deal the council signed with Forest.
What a complete sad case you are!
Because you are losing your job - does it give you relief to blame someone else?
When really you only haveyourself to blame!!!
Why dont you work on something yourself - become self employed and see your redundancy as an opportunity...
but OH NO, not with you, you havr to blame someone.
I'd hate to know who you are - a very negative person that needs to breed negativity to make himself feel better..
SHAME ON YOU”
