TRAM users faced disruption after a car ended up on the tracks.

Police say the vehicle was abandoned on the line at David Lane in Basford at around 7pm yesterday.

Replacement buses had to be put on while officers arranged for the silver car to be moved.

The buses were running between Wilkinson Street and Phoenix Park, and from Wilkinson Street to Bulwell.

The car ended up on a tram-only section of the tracks, where motor vehicles are not allowed.

One tram user said announcements were made over the speakers at tram stops explaining the delay.

"The tram driver told me a car had gone on to the tramline and was blocking the line," he said.

"People travelling between Bulwell and Phoenix Park were having to get buses instead."
