THE replacement bus scheme could mean a number of temporary bus stops being set up around Nottingham Station and the city centre.

East Midlands Trains is in talks with Nottingham City Council over the location of the stops.

However, it is envisaged buses will use Station Street and head out of the city from the station along Queens Drive to connect passengers with East Midlands Parkway.

Other buses will head out of the city along Derby Road and use the A52 to take passengers to Derby.

It is planned that the service will include a limited stop at Beeston Station, but passengers will be advised to stay on the bus to Derby due to limited capacity at Beeston.

Passengers using CrossCountry's service between Nottingham and Birmingham, and stations on to Cardiff, will also be able to use the bus from Nottingham to Derby and get on the train from there.

The replacement services will also be laid on for passengers using the Robin Hood Line between Nottingham, Mansfield and Worksop, as well as local stations between Nottingham and Newark. These will leave the city via Canal Street.

Mr Horne said: "We are finalising the detailed plan of bus movements to make sure it will all work. The objective is to keep people on the move."
