Tories sign up students for election battle
THE Conservatives have been signing up students in advance of the General Election.
Nottingham University Conservative Association says it has seen a surge in membership this year.
The association traditionally has strong support, with about 200 members.
Association president Nick Allsopp said: " A lot of people who have never been involved with the Conservatives before are joining.
"They are looking to find out more about the party, to get involved and keen to help elect more Nottingham candidates than ever before and to return a Conservative government."
Dr Rowena Holland, Nottingham South parliamentary candidate and a team from the East Midlands Conservatives, attended the Freshers' Fair.
Dr Holland said: "It's really exciting to see so many students engaged with politics."

“'Run for profit, not for people'.
Why not just nationalise half the economy and then we can go back to the Three-Day Week and, if we're lucky, even have our very own Winter of Discontent. Then we can make it just that bit harder for people to work off the £17K burden imposed on each person by Brown's reckless borrowing.
'High taxes to fund tax cuts for the rich' - you do realise that the 50p tax on the rich will simply mean high-earners take their billions elsewhere, thus decreasing revenue? In any case, the Tories are keeping it.”

“We have less unemployment than under the last Tory Government, and than we would have had if we had followed their advice on the economy and the banks.
Worse still thanks to the Tories half our country; utilities, rail, buses ETC are run for profit, not for people!”
