Things we knew before the Budget
SOME of the changes announced in previous budgets will come into effect from April 6 include:
Savings: The amount that people can save tax-free in an Individual Savings Account will rise from £11,280 to £11,520.
Benefits: A number of changes will be happening to benefits in April, with a one per cent increase in a number of benefits meaning it will be a real-terms cut because of inflation. Jobseeker's Allowance will increase by 71p and maternity, paternity and adoption pay will also rise by one per cent.
Pension: The basic state pension will increase by 2.5 per cent in April, to £110.15 a week. The additional state pension will go up by 2.2 per cent.
