BILLY Davies could be ready to reshuffle his Nottingham Forest front-line – with Huddersfield Town preparing a move for Joe Garner.

It is understood that the striker has already been the subject of one failed bid from the Terriers, who are keen to bolster their attacking options.

And the League One side are believed to be ready to test Forest with a fresh offer.

Garner, 23, arrived at the City Ground from Carlisle for £1.14m in July 2008 with a reputation as a hot prospect. But he has made only 33 league starts for the Reds and 13 substitute appearances, scoring nine goals.

And, in the 14 starts Garner made last season, he mainly played out wide.

But the product of the Blackburn Rovers academy did score two goals, against Blackpool and Scunthorpe, when utilised up front.

And he does have a proven pedigree in the lower divisions, having netted 15 goals in 30 league starts for Carlisle in 2007/08, before he was snapped up by then Forest boss Colin Calderwood.

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark said today: "He is a player we are very aware of but we are aware of lots of players through our scouting network."

Forest are not desperate to offload Garner, who is seen as a useful squad member.

Also, any move could be delayed while Forest ensure their remaining strikers have all returned to pre-season training without any long-term injury problems.

But they could be tempted to do business if Huddersfield match their valuation.

Reds boss Davies is believed to be keen to revitalise his front-line with new signings. Former Arsenal starlet Jay Simpson is a potential target.

And while, with the continued financial backing of Nigel Doughty, the club do not need to sell before they can buy, with six strikers currently on the books, Davies could be tempted to make room for new additions if the right offer for Garner comes in.

“I think we should offload mcgugan he is over rated and has a terrible attitude, also adebola he wouldn't look out of place in the NBA but in a forest shirt he is shocking. I'm glad perch has gone he was terrible, we are carrying league one players, those above plus mcgoldrick, lynch, and even Tyson I regret saying this because he will always be well thought of because of the flag waving lol but come on he can run that's all so I think he has got to go. With these players leaving and 5 quality players coming in we should be a force next season, I think boro will be champions with the players they bought in but that can change if we get busy in the Market. I have confidence in billy he is a winner and wouldn't stand for players out and none in, remember to sign a player there's alot involved and can take days, I'm sure things Are happening and expect to hear by Monday someone has signed!!!”

“it's obvious that Goldie and Adebola are not everyone's favourite players. However, Adebola came from a good side in Bristol City where he was playing regularly and was their Player of the Year. McGoldrick came from a decent side in Southampton where he scored 14 goals (again, playing regularly). Some players take longer to settle in than others, these are not bad players. The impression I get is that McGoldrick is highly thought of by fellow pros, as was James Perch. These players are not always easy on the eye; and i must say that I've been a little disappointed with Goldie so far, but they ARE good players. How much time they are given is another question!
Like most others on here I am getting very impatient for some news. Pity the staff at NEP having to fill the back page with non-stories like this everyday! U Reds!!!”
