The alert is in place until Friday and warns that "strengthening winds will exacerbate the cold feel" throughout this week.

Friday will warm slightly, with temperatures climbing to highs of -1C - but snow is forecast to be on the way again by Friday lunchtime.
A yellow severe weather warning - the lowest level of the three from the Met Office - has been issued for most of Friday due to the threat posed by the snow.
Light snow will continue throughout most of Saturday, but the freezing conditions will continue with temperatures not rising above -1C for the whole day.
