A team comprising businesses involved in property and development, along with officials from Nottingham City Council, will man a stand at the Marche International des Professionnels d'Immobilier, (MIPIM) the biggest property and development exhibition in Europe.

While the city council once paid for its own presence, Team Nottingham is being funded by the businesses taking part and the Invest in Nottingham Club, which has put together a £30,000 budget.

The mission means Nottingham will have a stand in the exhibition, and hold two special events for investors and developers interested in investing in the city.

The Nottingham delegation includes Alliance Boots, which will be promoting the multi-million enterprise zone centred on its Lenton campus, and UK Regeneration, the national developer which has committed to a £10 million residential development in the city.

One of the key figures in the organisation of Team Nottingham is Tim Garratt, a director of the city property agency Innes England.

He said: "For the third year running, we have had a number of private firms across Nottingham and the county who are keen to maintain the city's prominence at MIPIM.

"This is the strongest and most exciting Team Nottingham we have had since the private sector began representing the city at MIPIM.

"For the third year running, we have had a number of private firms across Nottingham and the county who are keen to maintain the city's prominence at MIPIM.

"Over the past few years, Nottingham has succeeded in establishing a recognisable presence there – and it is vital that we keep this momentum going."

Team Nottingham will partner with representatives form Derby and Derbyshire, among them Peter Richardson, who chairs the Local Enterprise Partnership across the two cities and counties.

Mark Chivers, director of the Enterprise Zone at Alliance Boots, said: "Alliance Boots recognises the importance of MIPIM in terms of inward investment to the city.

"The Nottingham Enterprise Zone is high on the city's agenda and MIPIM will be the ideal environment to talk to investors about its massive potential as a centre for innovation and product development in the health, beauty and wellness sphere.

"The reality is that Nottingham has to compete for future inward investment.

"We are in competition with locations such as Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield – and it is vital we attend MIPIM to showcase exactly what is possible in Notts, particularly to attract interest in our enterprise zone opportunities."
