ROBERT Earnshaw missed a penalty as Nottingham Forest had to settle for a draw against Premier League Birmingham City today.

The Reds striker fired over from the spot on 63 minutes in this FA Cup third round tie at the City Ground.

And it proved costly, as the game ended 0-0, setting up a replay in ten days time.

Forest were again impressive and the draw did extend their unbeaten run to 17 matches.

Billy Davies' side could have had the lead after just two minutes, Chris Cohen playing in Dexter Blackstock, but on the turn, he fired into the side netting from a tight angle.

Shortly after, Rob Earnshaw was fed the ball by Cohen but from 20 yards out, Joe Hart saved his low effort.

It was then Cohen's turn to find himself in space when Chris Gunter's cross fell to him at the back post but after getting the ball out of his feet, he could not find Earnshaw in the six-yard box when he fired in a cross.

Then at the other end, Lee Camp got down to save from Cameron Jerome before former Forest loanee, Gary McSheffrey, came on to replace Stuart Parnaby.

Paul McKenna put Forest on the front foot again when he stole possession and he teed up Earnshaw, whose driven shot was straight at Hart.

Camp was sent scrambling to his right to keep out a shot from Phillips shortly after the half hour mark before Birmingham lost a second player to injury, this time Lee Carsley being carried to the dressing room with a knee problem.

Just before the break, Chambers rose to meet Majewski's corner but it crashed back out off the underside of the bar.

Five minutes after the interval, a deflected shot fell kindly to Jerome but from six yards out, Camp dived brilliantly to scoop the ball away from the striker when he looked set to score.

Forest should have scored when Blackstock poked the ball to his right for the onrushing Cohen but with just Hart to beat, he fired at the Blues' goalkeeper.

On 62 minutes, Anderson was fouled in the box by Gregory Vignal but from the penalty spot, Earnshaw fired over the bar.

He almost made amends minutes later when he produced a superb flick which Blackstock laid back into his path but after going clear, Hart pulled off a great one-handed save to turn it around his far post.

At the other end, Birmingham almost made the Reds pay but Phillips' 25-yard shot cannoned off the far post with Camp beaten.

Birmingham hit Forest on the break and when Phillips was picked out in space, Camp pounced to save before McSheffrey fired the follow up into the Bridgford Stand.

After being the dominant side, Forest had to withstand some pressure late on but neither side could find the decisive strike.

FOREST: Camp, Perch, Gunter, Chambers, Morgan, Anderson (Tyson, 68), Cohen, McKenna, Majewski, Earnshaw (McCleary, 79), Blackstock (Adebola, 85). Subs: Wilson, Smith, McGugan, McGoldrick

“Mandy - So have you or Dave ever complained to the club about it?
Surely these people are no better than the people who are posting comments on here and you both report these people to the NEP. Sounds like a case of it's alright as long as they are one of us.”

Every ground in the country would have to be shut down if you adopted that policy.I do not condone any racial or such abuse as you state below but unfortunately it happens ..
It is not solely a problem at Forest.!!!”

    “football fan ,many
    Get your facts right.....
What we say about lee hughes is not slanderous. He drove a car whilst drunk ,caused a accident which resulted in the death of an innocent man and then ran away from the scene of the crash. He was found guilty of causing the mans death, sentenced to 6 years of
which he only served 3 .So when we say he killed someone it is fact so it cant be deemed as slanderous. As for if he was in any other job ,my view would still be the same,he deserved to go to prison for life.I know from personal experience what it is like to lose someone to a drink driver ,they may as well have a loaded shotgun and walk down the street shooting widly at people. What would you think about someone who did that...???”

“Dave - why don't you also send an email to Forest asking them to close down the 'A' block due to there chants implying that Dave Jones is a paedophile, Brighton fans are all homosexuals. And that derby fans practice homophobia?
is it probably because you sing along with them perhaps?
Look forward to seeing a copy of that email.”

“Good performance from the lads and they should take some confidence from that. Unlucky not to get the W.
I got to say though that i'm a little relieved. I was concerned that if we lost it may dent the confidence a little before the big clash with the baggies next week. Onwards and Upwards though
    Go You Reds”

    “"Email sent to NEP"

    Hello

I write to you in a most serious nature and do so requesting that you deal with this both properly and thoroughly.
My complaint is reference to comments made on the forum. Forest 0 ¿ 0 Birmingham on Saturday Jan 2nd.
I understand your website is normally moderated, and I know you cant keep on top of this every minute of the day¿

My complaint concerns a forum member who used the name Don,- Calke. He may also use other names.

    His most recent comments include

    ¿Murder Lane.
You employ kerb crawlers, kiddi touchers, alcholics bung artists.
18 goals is 18 goals in any league.
    Lets all do the Hughesy¿

¿Geriatrics, Sorry i forgot all the pubeless shandy drinkers from trentside who have to run on the pitch at a friendly¿

In my opinion he is implying that certain members of staff of Notts County and Nottingham Forest are guilty of the above ¿ and I feel that his comments relate to both the past and the present.
These comments are libelous and your publication and its employees could face serious consequences for allowing your website to be an un-moderated platform.

Banning his email address is not sufficient as he can easily create a new one. His ISP not only needs to be stopped from accessing the forum, but I feel you have a duty to contact the ISP and inform them of what his happening, This is what moderating a forum is about.
The ISP also have a responsibility to the community and therefore you have a duty to contact them.

99% of forum users enjoy the banter from rival fans ¿ this is not a problem.
However Don-Calke abuses forum members¿ If this continues we will just leave and go elsewhere.
A moderator will not be needed.

This email will be posted on the forum.

    Regards

    David ¿ exiled in derby”

“See the black and white scroats (Nitts and Direby) are on here again. Sad beings. Surprised the DCFC followers (refuse to call them fans as most get given free tickets for buying mobile phones or test driving Toyota's) have the nerve to appear from out of the woodwork after yet another humiliating result against inferior (possibly not) opposition. May be a trial run for DCFC in Div 1 next season.”
