BBC wildlife reporter Mike Dilger has appealed for Notts' environmental champions to take part in this year's Green Guardians Awards.

The Notts Wildlife Trust Awards have seven categories in which prizes can be won with a total of £6,000 on offer.

Mr Dilger, who presents on the One Show, said: "The Wildlife Trust's Green Guardians Awards are a great opportunity for local communities, businesses, schools and individuals to shout about what they are doing to help protect the local environment in a county which is very close to my heart."

The closing date for nominations is October 3, with the award ceremony to be held at Nottingham's Albert Hall in November.

Mr Dilger added: "If you are involved in an environmental project anywhere from Burton Joyce to Besthorpe then I'd urge you to apply."
