TV presenter expands her passion for fashion with women's range
A FORMER model and TV presenter who set up a children's clothing company is looking to expand her business with the help of outside investors.
Jessica Seaman, formerly Molloy, is a former Miss Nottingham who became a regular daytime presenter on Sky Sports News.
She gave up her TV career to pursue her passion for fashion, designing up-market children's clothes and launching her business, Poppy and Ned.
Located at Flintham, near Newark, the business was set up three years ago, with Jessica designing clothes for young children. They are made in Nepal out of natural fabrics like cashmere and cotton.
They are sold through a range of 45 shops, including major names like Fenwicks of Bond Street, in London, and Barney's, in New York.
Jessica is set to take her next step, bringing on board investors with business expertise as she expands a new line of clothing for women – Lily Stone London.
It marks a change of direction for someone who, only a few years ago, was fronting a major daytime TV programme.
"It has been hard at times and I'm the type of person who wants to do everything," she said. "At the start I was designing, dealing with the manufacturer, packing boxes and sending out leaflets.
"But I'm not a natural business person and I have been talking to new investors who have the experience to help me take the business to the next level."
