TEENAGER Chris Swanwick has been nominated for a top award at the Ginetta Annual Dinner and Presentation night in Birmingham.

The Dagfa House pupil was just 15 when he enjoyed a superb rookie year to finish seventh in the junior rankings with Tollbar Racing in 2009.

It was a remarkable achievement on the undercard of the British Touring Car Championships, given he had not driven a vehicle with a gearbox until last February.

Swanwick, now 16, has joined Top Porsche Carrera Cup GB Squad Team Parker to lead its maiden attack on the Ginetta Junior Series this season.

The teenager, from Greasley, moved out of karting when a sudden increase in his height meant he abandoned any plans to become a single-seater racer.

After his superb debut season, Team Parker boss Stuart Parker rates Swanwick as a title contender in 2010.

Swanwick will attend the awards at the Hilton Metropole Autosports Show next Friday, January 15.
