Swansea make £2m bid for Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter
NOTTINGHAM Forest are facing a fresh battle to hang on to Chris Gunter, after Premier League Swansea tabled a £2m bid for the defender.
The Reds are likely to reject the offer for the Welsh international, despite the continued uncertainty over their financial future.
Gunter is the only experienced defender who is currently tied to the club next season, with Joel Lynch considering a new deal and skipper Luke Chambers yet to be offered a fresh contract.
And manager Steve Cotterill will not want to see the only remaining senior member of his back four allowed to leave without a fight.

Forest's resolve may be tested if Swansea return with an improved bid for the 22-year-old, who they paid £1.75m for when he joined from Tottenham in 2009.
When Norwich and Bolton in particular made enquiries about Gunter in January, the full-back insisted he wanted to remain at Forest to help their fight against relegation.
Gunter did not want to move to a club as a squad player, having left Spurs in search of regular first-team football.
And he may seek similar assurances before considering a move elsewhere this time around, even if it meant a return to his native Wales, where he began his career with Cardiff City.
Another factor will be whether Cotterill would be given any funds raised from any transfer to address his crippling lack of defensive cover.
He would not want to increase his defensive problems without having the freedom to use the money to bring in two, three or even four players on free transfers.
Garath McCleary has moved to Reading on a free transfer, signing a three-year contract.
Forest had offered the winger £10k a week to remain at the City Ground.
