SWANSEA City are confident they can beat Nottingham Forest to the permanent signing of Paul Anderson.

The Welsh outfit revealed yesterday they have had an undisclosed six-figure bid accepted by Liverpool.

It was at the Liberty Stadium that Anderson made his name, scoring ten times in the 2007/08 season while on loan to help them to the League One title.

But despite that success, he opted for a year-long loan move to Forest last summer rather than returning to Swansea.

He made 28 appearances for the Reds and manager Billy Davies has gone on record to say he wants to sign the 20-year-old.

But despite spending all last season at the City Ground, those within the Swansea camp believe the midfielder is keen to return to them after originally flourishing under Roberto Martinez.

And they have struck the first blow by agreeing a fee with Liverpool and manager Martinez hopes to meet with Anderson when he returns from holiday.

Anderson still has two years left on his Anfield deal and will hold talks with Liverpool once their season ends.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed the bid, adding: "The offer has been accepted by Liverpool but it is still subject to us agreeing personal terms and Roberto sitting down with the player for further talks.

"Whoever we sign, we want players who want to play for Roberto and Swansea City."

It is understood a handful of Championship clubs have enquired about Anderson, who is from near Melton Mowbray.

But like last summer, he is expected to mull over the offers before making a final decision.

Anderson still dreams of making his first-team debut for Liverpool. But with the Anfield club accepting the bid, his future may lie elsewhere.

"Liverpool are second in the league and you never know, hopefully I can go and perform and they will want to do something with me," he said.

"If not we will see what else is out there. I have to speak to Liverpool, see what they want and where we are here (at Forest. But this season has been the best season for me in learning and my education."

    “still looking down,
you still haven't answered what you have achieved unless you consider that gaining the title of WORST TEAM IN PREMIERSHIP HISTORY is an achievement!
as for going down and down, i think that you will find that we are on the ascendency and you are on the descendency.you have finished in your lowest position for 3 years and us our highest.
players move on to other clubs, fact.nothing anyone can do about that but your team is full of world class players isn't it!!!! i don't think so and if you were that much better than us then why did you only finish 1 point above?
and don't try to dress things up.
    you have achieved nothing.”

“It ¿s Saturday 19th October, 2013, and Forest are preparing for their first crunch match of the Premiership season - entertaining 2nd placed Manchester United at the new-look 55,450 seater City Ground. The line-up? An attack minded 4-1-3-2, where Lionel Messi, Diego and Cristiano Ronaldo combine neatly with Wazza and Sergio Ag¿ero up front (note ¿ this is Forest¿s line-up, not United¿s).
The ¿Tricky Trees¿ have just won back-to-back European Cups; thanks, in part, to the seemingly effortless tiki-taka style championed by their bright young ¿continental¿ style manager. Another factor in their inexorable rise, according to the broadsheets, was the decision to turn captain Micah Richards into a defensive midfielder ¿ a position that has subsequently been renamed from ¿the Makelele¿ to ¿the Richards¿.
Amazingly, Micah was picked up on a free back in 2009, after City were relegated and didn¿t make it back up the following season. Richard Williams, of the Guardian, writes: ¿Shades of Clough are plain to see - signing international standard players for next to nothing, then advising them to change positions and it being a roaring success. There¿s the small matter of two victories in the Champions League as well, of course¿.
That¿s not the only similarity with Cloughie, though, as Forest have won the League Cup (Coca-Cola Cup, Carling Cup, whatever you want to call it) twice in a row too. Last season the reserve side won it, helped along by a plethora of Under-21 internationals and twelve goals from Bojan Krkic. Oh yes, that¿s right, Bojan swapped Barcelona and the Mediterranean for Forest¿s reserves and the East Midlands, such is the pull of the world¿s richest club.
It¿s boom time for Britain¿s tabloid hacks too, with plenty of puns/headlines in reserve they¿re just waiting for the next ¿Forest on fire¿ style story to get the go ahead. Copy is flowing like wine at a Roman orgy. Proper journos, however, do little but lament the dominance of arguably the greatest club side ever assembled ¿ Forest are currently bidding for their fourth Premiership title in a row ¿ it¿s all so predictable.
Not unlike today¿s match, which ends in victory for the current champions: ¿A spectacular display of attacking football by Nottingham Forest¿s players saw them confidently overcome a lacklustre Manchester United 5¿1 at the City Ground¿ says the match report.”

“What a sorry discussion board this has turned out to be. 111 posts and the majority pointless sniping. The question has to be asked why Derby fans are so obsessed with posting on a Forest board?!! Odd to say the least, quite often they will be posting before 9am!! Forest fans rise to the bait to easy too. Derby are going to shaft young Cloughie this coming season, i fear he'll be made a scapegoat for their up-coming poor season.”
