"There's lots of regeneration going on and this bid can only enhance what Nottingham has already done for itself.
"I think the bid's an absolutely brilliant idea and Nottingham is a fabulous place which deserves to host World Cup games."
Su, who left Nottingham 36 years ago, said she still felt her roots were here and urged people to back the bid.
She joins a growing list of local celebrities who have backed the bid including fashion designer Paul Smith, boxing champ Carl Froch, Ashes hero Graeme Swann and golf star Lee Westwood.

“Heavyweight, solid gold, star backing. Victory must surely be at hand.
When you attain mega-stardom like Ms. Poolard, it must be easy to forget the little people. Congratulations to Sue for staying true to her roots.
Sue Pollard: a great woman in every sense of the word.”
