Striker agrees one-year deal to join Mansfield Town – with help from the fans
EXPERIENCED striker Paul Connor has agreed a one-year deal with Mansfield Town – with fans' group The 12th Stag contributing to his wages.
The group has donated £3,000, which will go towards Connor's salary.
Connor, 31, has spent his entire career in the Football League, most notably at Rochdale where he scored an average of one goal in every three matches. He was transferred to Swansea City for £35,000 three years later and spells at Leyton Orient, Cheltenham and Lincoln City followed.
The 6ft 2in striker said: "It's great that The 12th Stag have helped contribute to bring players in – it's fantastic work from everyone involved and it's nice to think that the fans want you here."
Boss David Holdsworth said: "The 12th Stag is a great benefit to us. We are extremely grateful."

“I think its diabolical when the fans have got to front a players wage, this is what football is coming to, there should at least be some kind of assistance from the FA. Instead of them paying the likes of Fabio Capello £16,000 a day. Its turned in to a joke and its going to kill of clubs such as Mansfield and its not fair.”
