TRAM passengers faced delays yesterday after a stolen car was abandoned on the track at David Lane, Basford.

A man fled from the car after he was thought to have spotted a passing police car.

The Citroen had been stolen earlier in the day from Sneinton. Police sent out a helicopter to try to trace the thief but no arrests were made.

All tram services between Wilkinson Street and Bulwell were suspended but a replacement bus service was provided. A reduced service was also in operation between Wilkinson Street and Station Street and between Bulwell and Hucknall.

“how hard is it to release the handbrake, put the can in neutral and PUSH it out the way..!!
bloody coppers, just not got the back to push a car out the way, 1 1/2 hour wasted and more money wasted on another bus, when two minutes is all it would have taken..

what do we pay police for now days..in my day you would have got it out the way and carried on..”
