Old Basford man takes on survival challenge in memory of his dad
STEWART Pavier-Mills' ambition is to ensure that other families don't have to grieve like his have.
Following the death of his father in December 2012 from kidney failure, Mr Pavier-Mills, of Heathfield Road, Old Basford, decided to raise awareness and money for Kidney Research UK.

The 40-year-old will compete in Nottingham's Survival of the Fittest race in October.
The event is a gruelling 10km "urban assault course" that starts and finishes at Victoria Embankment and takes in the City Ground and the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont.

The race features a number of challenging obstacles at various stages of the route including running up steps at the Forest stadium and getting wet at Holme Pierrepont.
Mr Pavier-Mills has also lined up a number of other 10km sponsored runs in the meantime.
He said, of his father's illness: "It was the complete speed of how everything happened and the fact that they could do nothing.
"I want to avoid another family going through what we did. Everything is going towards research – that's what it is about."
Stewart originally intended to raise £200 but is already close to £500.
In February of last year, Stewart's father, Shaun Gilbert was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder and was told he could have just three years to live.
"We thought he was well on the road to recovery but he came back from holiday and started swelling up," said Mr Pavier-Mills.
Things took a turn for the worse in December of last year when Mr Gilbert was diagnosed with lung cancer and given up to six months to live.
Just days later, his family were informed that treatment was no longer possible and in fact, the 62-year-old would have just days left alive.
Mr Pavier-Mills said: "It was quite a distressing illness. The kidneys were just getting worse and worse.
"It was worse for my mum because they kept dialysing my dad, giving her false hope. She struggled. It was a complete shock for her."
Mr Gilbert died just five days before Christmas.
"His life was my mum, he worked for the weekends," Mr Pavier-Mills added. "They used to go out to National Trust sites and go away on holidays."
