Steve Cotterill's frustration in Nottingham Forest's striker search
STEVE Cotterill today revealed he has considered trying to add another striker to his Nottingham Forest squad on loan.
But the Reds boss also admitted that prolific goalscorers are in short supply when you are having to work on a restricted budget.

Frustrated: Steve Cotterill
"Strikers are at a premium," he said. "I have had an eye on Billy Sharp, from when I was at Portsmouth.
"We would not have been able to bring him here, because of the finances involved. But he went to Southampton and scored on his debut.
"A 20-goal a season striker is going to cost you £3m and nobody is going to want to loan one out.
"If you get a striker who is going to get you that many goals on loan, you have been very, very lucky.
"Nobody is going to give you one of those unless you pay a huge loan fee, which we would not have."
Cotterill, for the first time, has a squad that is almost too big, with several senior players left out when they faced Watford last weekend.
But the manager expects them to fight for their place.
"It is not a case of me needing to keep them happy, it is a case of them getting back into the 16," he said.
"Things can change quickly, when you have three games in a week. Marcus Tudgay would have been in the starting line-up on Saturday, but he was ill.
"So things can change quickly."

O look no loanees, no Camp no Chambers and a decent team. This team couldn't do as bad as the team SC picks. It really aint rocket science Mr Cotterill. Hope he enjoys his last game”

“If we carry on like we are not scoring relegation is a certainty. Having brought in three defenders and a midfield player Cotterill might as well try for an attacker who can score goals after all even Kevin Phillips is scoring at 37!”

“another loan player!!! how many are you allowed to have on the pitch at the same time? We have what is it 6 or 7 strikers if you take Tudguy out the equation, you are lucky if the rest have scored half a dozen between them, where are all the goals from the midfielders? and the defenders chipping in with a few?As mentioned before it has to be inept clueless tactics when you have scored as few goals as we have that can only be the logical conclusion. So what is the point of getting another striker in ,lets face it he wont be any good because if he was he would'nt be out on loan in the first place.
Mr Clarke what have you done”

“Saturday prediction:
Florist 0 Coventry 2 (Florist always let in 2 goals per game)
Florist will be rock bottom of the Championship Saturday night.
The Rams will all but relegate you in March.
You will then play in a league where you belong.”

“if we lose on staurday SC has got to go end of. Hes done nothing for the club at least before he was appointed we were hitting the back of the net more times then we have since SC took charge. I would like to see Paul Hart back in the dugout, im sure we could pay Charlton compensation, we should still have money left from the sale's of Morgan and Bamford.
I belive Hart would get us a mid table finish, there is still plenty of points to play for, and it would give him enough time from now and the end of the season, to have a good look at the players and give him chance to get rid of the dead wood like McGoaldrought, Greening, Boateng and a few others and identify the players we need to strengthen the team.
He would also bring through more players from the Academy and give them the chance to shine in the 1st team, look at some of the talent that when to different prem clubs Dawson, Jenas, Reid and Harewood, it hadnt quite worked for Reid and Harewoods career went down hill when he left Wet Spam.
If SC is to stay i think he need to pick up at least 7points in the next 3games, and if we dont get a win saturday, Frank Clark needs to drag him into the boardroom and hand him is p45”

“We need another striker in on loan how many strikers does Steve Cotterill need we have Miller Harewood Tudguy Blackstock Derbyshire none of them are scoring goals so it seems to me it's got to be the tactics no team can turn from what we was last season to the complete shambles we are now. Maybe the players are not interested anymore. We are going down i don't care what the dreamers out there think if we lose on saturday start looking at the players wanting out”

“Its about time that Mr Clark took some responsibly and got rid of this useless manager. We have 16 games to go its obvious to see that the players are not happy with either him or the set up.. he seems to play negative football all the time with the likes of Mcleary up front. Its alright for the likes of Jillycarol to come on here and make comments like we too good to go down we have played well we will be OK . But i am sorry to say that is points that we need to stay up. Its about grinding out results not always about performances. Admittedly the performances help but at this stage of the season we need to start scoring. You have got a least 6 strikers all not scoring. More than many other clubs in the division. Something is not right somewhere.. Maybe behind the scenes that is not made public I don't know. How can a team with many of the sames players from last year go from nearly 40 games unbeaten at home to this. Come on Mr Clark get a grip and get rid now bring back our Billy to save us everyone clearly wants this so do us a favor before its to late............”
