Stags snap up Smith
MANSFIELD Town have completed their first summer signing in the shape of York City's utility man Adam Smith.
The 25-year-old has agreed a one-year deal at Field Mill and trained with his new team-mates yesterday.
Smith made 14 starts and 14 substitute appearances for the Minstermen last season, scoring twice.
The Huddersfield-born player came on as a replacement when York were 1-0 victors at the Stags in March.
Smith came through the youth ranks at Chesterfield, where he spent seven seasons, and has also had spell at Gainsborough and Lincoln.
He can play on either wing, up front and also in central midfield.
Meanwhile, Luke Beckett, recently released by Gainsborough Trinity after refusing a new contract, has been linked with a move to Mansfield.
Stags manager David Holdsworth said: "Luke is a good player and a goalscorer, but it all comes down to financial demands."

“Smith said: "This club is going the right way. There is clear ambition here and the manager is determined to put the club back in the Football League." Right Adam, so which way did you think York City were going? Remind me again who got to the Wembley play-offs?”
