RITCHIE Sutton insists the lure of a potential meeting with a Premier League giant is all the inspiration Mansfield Town need to dump Lincoln City out of the FA Cup.

The defender will be part of the Stags squad that heads to Sincil Bank today (1pm) in the second round of the competition.

They will be backed by more than 1,000 Mansfield fans for the derby match against their Blue Square Bet Premier rivals.

But it comes off the back of a disappointing FA Trophy exit to Evo-Stik Premier side Matlock in Tuesday's replay, after the original tie ended level last weekend.

Sutton played in both games but is eager to get back on track today by ensuring they are in the hat for tomorrow's third round draw.

The 26-year-old said: "It is going to be a tight game. We have played them already this season so know what they are all about.

"We have enough to beat them and even if we don't, we have to make sure we take it to a replay and are still in the draw to find out who we could meet.

"That is all the inspiration you need, to be in that draw. And I would love the opportunity to a play a team of the highest level, that is all we want to do."

Sutton was disappointed to exit the FA Trophy in midweek but insists the season is going well overall. He added: "It almost feels like we are having a bad season. But when you look at it, we are seven points off the top with a game in hand and in the FA Cup.

"You look at that and it can only spur us on."
