DAVID Holdsworth today declared himself 'very pleased' with Mansfield Town's performances in their three home friendlies.

The Stags still have matches to play at Eastwood, Buxton, Hucknall and Alfreton ahead of their season opener against Forest Green on August 14.

But they rounded off their pre-season campaign at Field Mill with an encouraging 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

It followed equally promising displays in beating Championship club Sheffield United 1-0 and losing to Nottingham Forest 2-1.

"I am very pleased. It was a great exercise against Tranmere and I hope they thought so too," said Holdsworth.

"I'm delighted with the quality that we have attracted for our home games. They have been really good work-outs for us.

"We have acquitted ourselves well. We have worked hard on our shape and throughout the games we have got better and better.

"I'm pleased with a lot of the coaching aspects we have worked on and that we have kept passing the ball.

"I don't want to single out individuals because the whole team has done well.

"Tranmere set up not too dissimilar to the way one or two teams will play in our division. It was very competitive and what we wanted and I think we deserved an equaliser."
