Spotlight on Sheffield Wednesday and Notts
TEAM NEWS
Sheffield Wednesday, the current leaders of League One, have just one notable injured player, Jermaine Johnson.
The winger, who Nottingham Forest tried to sign in the summer, is sidelined with a knee injury.
Owls' boss Alan Irvine is expected to name a similar line-up to the team he played in the opening two rounds of the Carling Cup.
TEAM
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY: Weaver, Otsemobor, Hinds, Purse, Beevers, Jones, Sedgwick, O'Connor, Potter, Teale, Heffernan, Morrison, Tudgay, Mellor, Miller, Buxton, Coke, Spurr, Jameson, Palmer.
TEAM NEWS
Two of Notts County's strikers, Lee Hughes and Luke Rodgers, are both ruled out of the tie.
Hughes, the Magpies' leading scorer last season, has missed the last three games with a groin injury and will not return at Hillsborough, though he is expected to be fit to face Yeovil Town in League One on Saturday.
Rodgers is still recovering his fitness after undergoing an operation on an ankle injury, and is expected to be fit by the end of this month.
Goalkeeper Rob Burch returned to training at the end of last week after recovering from a broken toe, and will be in the squad against his former club.
Magpies' manager Craig Short is likely to make changes from the team that drew 3-3 at Bournemouth, with the likes of Liam Chilvers, Krystian Pearce, Kevin Smith and on-loan Birmingham City pair Jake Jervis and Luke Hubbins in contention to start against the Owls.
TEAM
NOTTS: Burch, Grof, Thompson, Lee, Chilvers, Edwards, Pearce, Harley, Westcarr, Spicer, Bishop, Ravenhill, Davies, Hubbins, Burgess, Hawley, Smith, Jervis.
FAMILIAR FACE
Paul Heffernan
The 28-year-old striker from Dublin spent almost five years at Notts County at the start of his career, from 1999 and 2004, and made exactly 100 league appearances for them, scoring 35 goals.
He was the Magpies' leading scorer in League One in his last season at Meadow Lane, with 20 in 38 games.
After Notts endured relegation into League Two, Heffernan left to join Bristol City for £125,000, but only spent one season at Ashton Gate before moving to Doncaster Rovers for the identical fee.
He spent five years with Rovers before joining Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer in the summer.
He is yet to make his full League debut for the Owls, but started for them in the opening two rounds of the Carling Cup, and is expected to face his former club at Hillsborough tonight.
