Martina Navratilova: Won 18 Grand Slam singles tennis titles, 31 major women's doubles titles (an all-time record), and 10 major mixed doubles titles. She reached the Wimbledon singles final 12 times, including nine consecutive years between 1982 and 1990, and won the women's singles title at Wimbledon a record nine times.
Dennis Taylor: The snooker star from Northern Ireland won arguably the most memorable and dramatic snooker world final in 1985, beating world number one Steve Davis 18-17. The final was watched by over 18 million people on the BBC.
Edgar Davids: The former Holland midfielder started wearing protective glasses in 1999 following surgery in his right eye due to glaucoma. He went on to win two of his three Serie A titles with Juventus while wearing the glasses. Davids, whose club career also included spells at Ajax, Milan, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, is now head coach of League 2 side Barnet.
Dayron Robles: The Cuban 110m hurdler set a new world record of 12.87 seconds in 2008 while wearing glasses. He also went on to win Olympic gold in Beijing later that year.
