“People keep banging on about countries that have heavy snow for months of the year, saying how they just get on with things like "its not unusual", well thats because its not unusual there, they have the infrastructure to support it, people fit winter tyres to their cars, they are taught to drive in snow, airports have heated runways, schools have more robust heating systems. All these things are expensive, would you pay out £500 for some snow tyres knowing you'll probably only use them for a week or 2 a year? Heavy snow IS unusual here, thats the point.”

“A friend of mine has recently returned from two weeks stay in Russia, where there was 20ins of snow. Not one school/college was closed. People went to work as though it was nothing unusual. The roads were cleared and all pavements were cleared by illegal immigrants and people doing 'community' service (wasn't called that there) enabling everyone to go about their daily routines. What a good idea!!!!”
