Snapshot of opinion shows Labour would win election in Notts
CONSERVATIVE MPs in marginal seats across Notts would lose their positions to Labour if there was a General Election tomorrow, according to a Tory peer.
Both Sherwood MP Mark Spencer and Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry would lose the seats they won in the 2010 General Election, a new poll in marginal constituencies conducted by Lord Ashcroft reveals.

The research, based on interviews with more than 19,000 voters in 213 constituencies throughout Britain, suggests an eight per cent swing to Labour in the Tories' most vulnerable seats.
There would be a swing from the Conservatives to Labour of 9.5 per cent in marginal seats in the Midlands currently held by the Tories.

The swing would be enough for Labour to take Broxtowe and Sherwood, as well as Amber Valley and Erewash.
Mr Spencer, who needed a recount to see off Labour candidate Emilie Oldknow with a majority of just 214 votes in 2010, said: "If you are not careful, you can obsess on polls, whether you're leading or behind.
"All I intend to do is keep doing things I believe are right and doing my best for my constituents, and they will make their own minds up."
He thought the poll results were "not that surprising".
"Clearly, we are the party that is having to pick up the brush and dustpan and tidy up the mess that we were given, and some of the decisions we are having to make are pretty difficult.
"It's very easy to say to people 'what would you do if there was a General Election today?' but if you are actually faced with an election and the choice of Ed Miliband or David Cameron as Prime Minister, that changes the debate."
Miss Soubry became Broxtowe's first Tory MP in 13 years when she beat Labour MP Nick Palmer with a majority of just 389 votes.
Lord Ashcroft's poll also looked at Labour-held seats targeted by the Tories at the next General Election, including Lilian Greenwood's Nottingham South constituency and Vernon Coaker's seat in Gedling.
Mr Coaker said: "It's a snapshot of opinion at this particular time, so it's good news at the moment.
"However, you can lose a poll lead as quickly as you get one. You cannot take anything for granted.
"Any General Election is set to be two years away if this Government runs its full course."
He added: "There are county council elections in Notts in a couple of months and we're working hard. We hope we can translate the views of this poll into a Labour victory in May.
"But, of course, we have got to earn it. We are not complacent."
The survey forecast that both Labour MPs would retain their seats, helped by a current 9.2 per cent swing in voting in the Midlands from Conservative to Labour since the 2010 elections.

“Anna Soubry deserves to lose her seat because she has nothing but contempt for what she considers the little person or should I say fat persons on the streets . She's a disgrace for a woman who's supposed to be intelligent she as had several jobs and been good at none of them . Please forgive me all you large people for using her language when I say fat ... Just to put the record straight my grandmother and her sisters all weighed between 15 and 20 stone and my mother weighed 16 stone so I object to her representing anyone or anything .”
