Sleeping rough raises £20,000 for homeless
GIRLGUIDING Nottinghamshire has handed a cheque for more than £20,000 to homelessness charity Framework.
The money was raised from the group's Night in a Box sleep-out in July. Sheltered only by cardboard boxes, more than 800 Brownies, Guides, Rangers and leaders were sponsored to sleep out in Wollaton Park.
County commissioner Kate Royse said she was " awestruck by the depth of understanding and compassion which the girls have shown."
Framework chief executive Andrew Redfern added: "This has been by far the largest single fundraising event that any organisation has undertaken on our behalf."
