Sirrel the 'King of Meadow Lane'
JIMMY Sirrel was described as the 'King of Meadow Lane' by Supporters' Trust chairman Stuart Rolley when plans of a portrait to honour him were announced.
And the Trust rather aptly turned to a top local artist, who had famously painted the Queen, to paint the timeless tribute.
John Townsend was commissioned to paint the portrait of Sirrel from a selection of pictures provided to the Trust by the Evening Post.
Rolley said: "Having famously painted the Queen some years ago, Magpies fans everywhere are pleased John is now turning his attention to the King of Meadow Lane."
