A PREGNANT mum is devastated after "sick" thieves broke into her home and stole baby equipment bought for her unborn child.

Natalie Watson, 31, of Main Street, Shelford, is still too scared to go back to her home after the crooks smashed their way through a kitchen window and ransacked the place.

They stole baby-milk bottles and clothes, as well as treasured jewellery being kept safe on behalf of Ms Watson's mother, who has multiple sclerosis and is in a care home.

They even packed their loot into one of Ms Watson's suitcases and parked their getaway vehicle on her drive while they loaded it up.

Ms Watson, who also has a three-year-old son, said: "They're sick for doing this to me.

"I'm absolutely devastated. I can't go back in my house – I no longer feel safe."

Ms Watson, who is eight months pregnant and lives with partner Stuart Perry, 25, said she was physically sick when she saw the damage.

"I threw up everywhere," she said. "This is stressing me out so close to my pregnancy. I still can't believe this has happened."

The thieves also raided the house next door and made off with more jewellery.

Ms Watson has now temporarily moved in with her partner's mother in Whatton.

She is expected to give birth in around two weeks and will need surgery when she goes into labour because the placenta is in the wrong position.

"If that operation goes wrong, my baby might die. I don't need this stress," she said.

At the time of the burglary, Ms Watson was celebrating a relative's birthday at the Goose pub, in Gamston. She was alerted to the break-in when the neighbour who was also burgled phoned her.

"We raced back but it was too late," she said

Detectives are investigating both burglaries, which took place at about 5.30pm on January 30.

A spokesman said: "Witnesses or anyone one who saw anything suspicious in the area should contact Notts Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

“Things like this make me so angry. Punishment for this sort of crime should be far more severe.

Good luck to the family with their little baby on the way.”

“This is really sad, hope her and the baby come out of this okay the other end.”
