TWO sheep's heads were thrown at two pubs before the Forest-Derby clash on Friday, police have confirmed.

One head of a sheep was thrown through the window of The Lodge pub in Grange Road, Alvaston, at about 7pm.

Half an hour later a lamb's head was thrown through the window of the Mitre pub. A second sheep's head was later found outside the same pub in Osmaston Road, Alvaston, by police.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said: "Bar staff at both pubs said they had had Forest fans in there that evening, but they had not had any trouble in there at all.

"[At The Lodge pub] it smashed a downstairs window when it was thrown in. No witnesses saw the offenders but a group of people were seen getting into a car and driving off shortly after."

Police are appealing for information about the incidents and believe they were carried out by the same people.

One of the men seen getting into the car was white, 5ft 10, medium build and was wearing a burgundy scarf, brown coat and jeans.
