NOTTS County can win promotion this season – because every player in the squad is united by the fierce desire to see the team flourish.

That was the positive message today from Jamal Campbell-Ryce, who believes the Magpies' biggest strength is their shared ambition to secure Championship football.

The winger says that, while Keith Curle has assembled a squad of talented players, he has also put together a group who are willing to fight for the team, rather than seeking to secure individual success.

"Everyone is enjoying themselves; enjoying the way the team plays.

"And, while that is the case, we can only get better.

"I want to get promoted. I want us to be known as the best footballing side in the league and I think we are well on our way to doing that."

Campbell-Ryce was one of a host of new additions in the summer, as Curle transformed his Meadow Lane squad.

"We have a good bunch of lads, we all get along really well," he said. "There is great camaraderie in the dressing room.

"Not only do we have ability, but you also need togetherness to win promotion; to be successful.

"We are all in this for the same reason. None of us want to be in this league – we all have the ambition to go up.

"That is what we are all fighting for together.

"I have been promoted before and it feels the same here now.

"You are going to need luck through the season. Things will not always go right.

"But we feel as though we have enough talent here to pull things together.

"We have brought in a great mix of players. We all understand each other, how we work – and we all have the same goals."
