SCOUTS and Guides tried out wheelbarrow racing and brushed up on their circus skills at their annual activity day.

More than 300 youngsters took part in more than 40 activities including giant football and chariot racing.

David Box, ten, from 3rd Woodthorpe, said "It's been great fun. I enjoyed all the activities, but the chariot racing was the best. There were activities that really made you think."

Event organiser Paul Kanikowski said: "All of the challenges and activities are designed to test and improve team working.''
