SIXTH-FORM students were today set to visit the British Geological Survey in Notts to learn about minerals.

The Quarry or Not? event aimed to show the need for mining minerals – and the difficult decisions faced when balancing environmental issues.

Schools set to take part included Carlton le Willows, Gedling, Dayncourt, Radcliffe-on-Trent, King Edward VII, Melton Mowbray, The King's School, Grantham, Saint Benedict Catholic School, Darley Abbey, Derbyshire, South Wolds, Keyworth and West Bridgford School, West Bridgford.
