Schools in Nottingham and Notts to get Government cash for extra places and maintenance

SCHOOLS in the city and county are to get extra Government cash for maintenance work and expansions, it was revealed today.

The Department for Education is providing money to local education authorities to spend on bringing school buildings up to scratch and make sure there is enough room to meet demand.

Nottingham City Council will receive £2.9 million for maintenance work in 2013-14, while it will get £7 million to create extra places in 2013-14 and 2014-15. The yearly amount for the latter hasn't been broken down.

The county council will get £11.6 million and £5.1 million respectively.
