SOUTHAMPTON are reported to have failed in a £400,000 bid for Forest striker Nathan Tyson.

Tyson, who was handed his Football League debut by Saints boss Alan Pardew during his time at Reading, cost Forest £675,000 when they signed him from Wycombe in 2005.

He made 17 Championship starts last season, plus 16 as a sub and has two years to run on his contract.

The Saints are favourites for the League One title.

“usually pardew get's his man so i won't be too surprised to see tyson come through the doors at SMS. i think pards will go up to 750,000 for the player which i dont think he's worth but i didnt think lambert was 1million last season untill he scored 31 goals!. tyson looks like a character and will be good to have around the place. his fiery attitude will be good for wen we play pompey again!.”

“as far as i'm concerned if pardew wants tyson he will get him. I reckon he will go up to around 750,000 even tho io dont think tyson is worth that amount but he looks like a character and would be a good addition at league 1 level.”

“can't believe fans are having a go... fair play, this is an opinions board, but iink we're a better squad with him in it... we're not a top prem team, so for our level, he's a good player for us

i really hope he dont go....”

“I'd hold out for £500,000, simply because I think So'ton would be willing to pay that amount. However, I'd let him go with no hesitation whatsoever. He's far too injury prone and lacks and accuracy.”

“Let him go the lad hasn't got the minerals when the heat is on and goes missing when the going gets tough. Hold out for £500,000 then let him go.”
