Sad to see city's lace centre shut
THE Nottingham Lace Centre is joining the casualty list for our visitor attractions.
Tales of Robin Hood and the Industrial Museum at Wollaton Park have already either shut or face an uncertain future.
While these attractions may not make financial sense, it is vital that tourists are offered other reasons to visit our great city.
For 29 years the shop and heritage centre has promoted our proud connection with the lace industry. But now it appears that interest has dwindled.
It is a shame that a way could not have been found to keep the centre going. All we can do now is grant its last wish and visit it this weekend to give it a fitting send-off. In the meantime the city should be looking at what other attractions can take its place.
