Rock's in their bones!
NEXT to take a seat at Stealth with Zoe Kirk, for our weekly music video showcase, are classic rockers, Skeleton Crew. All five guys, in their 30s and 40s, have a varied history of playing in bands, but the current line-up have been together for six years. They confess to having quite a surprising CD collection between them, but essentially, they're all big rock lovers. And their guitarist owns the Flying V featured in the Kiss music video, Unholy.
Watch the video here: And you are?
Lyndon Huw Parry, 39 (lead vocals), Steve Evans, 44 (bass, vocals), Graham Byron, 39 (guitar, vocals), Rob Holsman, 37 (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Drew Traylor, 40 (drums, vocals).
Where are you all from?
Hucknall, Barnstone, Grantham, Bestwood Park and Kimberley.
What's with the band name?
The idea was to create a band that was in a similar vein to our previous band, Mutiny, and with Mutiny's pirate theme to the fore. The gag was that we didn't have enough band members for a mutiny, as we only had a skeleton crew (there were only three of us).
Describe your music and influences.
Classic hard rock that acknowledges the history of the genre but isn't slavishly tied to it. Individually we all have various CDs in our collection that would definitely cause some raised eyebrows.
What are the day jobs?
Lyndon's a team leader at a residential home for young adults with autism, Steve's an engineer and publican, Graham does mobile phone sales and repairs, Rob's a professional audio consultant and Drew's a supply teacher.
Claims to fame?
Rob: I own the Flying V guitar featured in the Kiss video for Unholy and we all once got to jam with the drummer from Showaddywaddy. Graham: Erm... second place in the Playstation F1 British Championships at Silverstone, 2001. My prize was ONE of Jenson Button's gloves! Drew: Met and had my plastercast signed by Roy Castle, appeared on Treasure Hunt with Annabel Croft when I was a civil war re-enactor. Lyndon: I got a bucket full of water in the face thrown by Ozzy Osbourne at a secret gig he did at Rock City. He shook my hand at the end though, as did Geezer Butler, and I haven't washed it since.
Which other Notts bands do you rate?
Scarlet's Wake, NG26 and Patriot Rebel are just a few we've done gigs with.
Music for sale?
Our debut CD, Bring It On, from our website. Our second, Theatre of War, is being recorded and will be available later this year.
