THERE will be road closures on Sunday when 12,000 runners take part in the Experian Robin Hood Festival of Running.

Closures start from 9am, although competitors will be arriving at Victoria Embankment from around 8.30am. Some roads are likely to stay closed until about 3pm.

Both the marathon and half-marathon routes start on Victoria Embankment, head to the University of Nottingham and Wollaton Park and then return to the Embankment.

The full marathon continues into West Bridgford and up to the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint before returning to the Embankment.

A police spokesperson said: "The Robin Hood Festival of Running is a fantastic event, which raises thousands of pounds for charity. Unfortunately, however, it does have a significant knock-on effect for road users in certain areas of Nottingham and West Bridgford. We would advise anyone travelling on Sunday to check race routes and to avoid those areas where there will be road closures."
