THE 2012 Robin Hood Festival will be a seven-day event.

The festival will be held at Sherwood Forest Visitor's Centre, near Edwinstowe, from August 13 to 19, beginning the day after the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

Last year the event was five days long and attracted more than 20,000 people.

Patrick Candler, group manager for country parks and green estates service at Notts County Council, said: "We have decided to time this year's festival slightly later than previous years, which has been done so as not to conflict with the Olympic Games. A longer scheme will give us an opportunity to explore new and different activities whilst maintaining the old favourites."
