THERE was a surreal end as a power cut plunged Rock City into near total darkness. It interrupted the encore to what had been an excellent performance by Myles Kennedy and the AB boys of their 2007 album Blackbird.

While we wondered whether the management had paid the electricity bill, AB did their best to keep us entertained with an awesome drum solo from Scott Phillips. And after informing us that the whole block was powerless, Myles and guitarist Mark Tremonti were just about to embark on a very much unplugged acoustic set when the lights came back to life.

Ironically, they'd opened the set with the ominous Come to Life, the beginning of a triumphant night for Myles and his vocal range. The lilting melodic quality of his singing is infused with controlled power, delivering the lyrics with distinction.

Nice touches in the set were the characteristic opening bars of the Beatles' White Album ditty Blackbird, used as a preamble to their own album title track; and the rendition of Happy Birthday for Kenny Collins, the vocalist of the admirable Scottish support band Logan.

They even gave him a cake with a solitary candle. Thankfully, we didn't need more of them later on!

“Last night proved to be a mind blowing show by the AB boys with even an unexpected power surge which didn¿t dampen their spirits as Scott Philips former drummer of creed played an outstanding drum solo, while Miles and Mark Tremonti played a few seconds together with an acoustic song before the lights rudely interrupted proceedings, I am sure it would had been gr8 acoustic performance :)

Tremonti the legend of guitar!!!!!!! .Performed a magnificent performance with his breath taking solos and all over skill with solos such as the OYE solo and the great solo shared between Kennedy and Tremonti in the recent album title song ¿Blackbird¿ with fans emphatically sung every lyric and pumped their fists collectively in the air to guitarist Mark Tremonti's solo.

I wondered if Myles Kennedy could handle some of the higher pitched vocals live, and let me tell you, this guy is the real deal. He hit every note, and was unbelievable. He is great singer.

At the end of the gig I had the pleasure of meeting the support band Logan! In the corridor and giving all five members a well deserved handshake and a big happy birthday to the lead singer Kenny.

During the concert I recorded some very Good footage with high detail sound quality and video please check my YouTube account for this footage ¿smithy2408¿ I will upload this in the next few days please leave comments.

    ¿Rock on¿
