Revenge not on Sean O'Driscoll's agenda as Nottingham Forest visit Bristol City
DURING his time as Nottingham Forest manager, Sean O'Driscoll was never one to get tied up in the emotions of football.
So it should come as no surprise that revenge is not exactly at the top of his agenda tomorrow.

Sean O'Driscoll
Even O'Driscoll cannot completely overlook the intrigue surrounding a fixture against the club that sacked him on Boxing Day, who have just appointed Billy Davies to fill the void left by Alex McLeish, who lasted only 41 days in the role, after replacing O'Driscoll.
But he insists his only priority is to secure the win City need to claw themselves a little closer to safety in the Championship.

"It is just another game and it has to be that way given the position we are in," said O'Driscoll.
"I cannot get emotionally involved in what has gone on at Nottingham Forest in the past.
"If I'm honest, I have enough problems getting my own team ready for Saturday. How can I be more worried about Forest than I am my own team?"
O'Driscoll says he is not surprised to see another change at the City Ground.
"Nothing surprises me in football anymore," he said.
"Football is like a bubble and, in many ways, it is detached from the rest of life."
O'Driscoll says his priorities have not changed, despite the fact he has swapped a promotion push with Forest for a fight against relegation.
"Winning football matches is the conundrum everybody has to solve. The only certainty in English football is that you will lose matches," he said.
"But you cannot, whenever you lose a football match, tear up the paper and start again with something else.
"You have to say 'this is the way we have to build, this is the way we have to do things' and try and be as consistent as you can.
"The biggest thing missing in a lot of clubs is the ability to communicate that to everybody."

“Huey /Mickey C
What an articulate post!
Really contributes to the forum and disproves my point of "abuser in chief" Magic!
Well done my friend

“Redsong sorry, I didn't read your last post.I read the previous one, and I think one a month is enough. I think you need some sort of treatment pal. You talk about me as if you know me. You call me a drunk! What the f is that about? I have not been drunk at a football game since I was 19. And trust me, that's a long, long time ago. Get a life you moron. What a 'kin sad dick.”

The abuser in chief - you have to be one of the most unpleasant person on this forum.
Your ****ging off our ex manager who bought these players in the final weeks before the season started says everything about you. To include Cox who you and others raved about when he first pulled on the garibaldi shows your hypocrisy.
If we are talking about decisions lets throw in the following:
Adebola, Mcgoldrick, Lynch, Koncheski, the ramsey fiasco, the boyd fiasco, K Boyd on squillions a week, and of course Claude Davis.
Mcgoldrick picked for the biggest game of the year at Swansea with Earnshaw on the bench - yes I am confident that Billy will make good decisions!
Huey/Mickey C you have no loyalty to anyone or anything unless its the result that suits your inflated ego.
You claim to be a fan yet abuse everything at this club that you with your limited knowledge of football disagree with.
Managers and players who give their best for our club and fail do not deserve the abuse and scorn you and your mates pour down on them.”

“Yeh, thanks for those four defenders Sean. They are truly TERRIFIC (your famous word). Maybe the best in the Championship ! Only joking, I doubt they could keep a clean sheet in the Blue Square North. Also would like to congratulate Sean on winning three home wins in a row. Well, done. And to think you never even managed two home wins on the bounce with the team you bought with Fawaz's money. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that most of your Bristol team was bought by the previous manager. Anyway, well done today, you deserved the victory. But you will go down. Like it or not, your team was rubbish today. Lucky for you that we are even worse. (But that's nothing to do with you, is it?)
Billy Davies need to out most of these players that have been brought in by O'Driscoll. Collins, Ward, Harding, & Cox for starters. They simply are nowhere near good enough.”

“You could tell appointing BD was a desperate attempt by Fawaz to assuage disgruntled fans simply by the way he broke the news on Twitter.
'Billy's home' You know this is the kind of message the vocal pro-Billy lobby will have been bombarding him with.
I can't really blame him for bowing to it, he simply doesn't have any experience or know-how of running an English club. Without really having any understanding of what went on last time he probably just checked our league placing under BD and thought what a great way this is to receive the adulation that he obviously craves from the fans.
Some very thoughtful and level-headed posts on this forum by the way (apart from a few numpties). I would also like to extend my gratitude to SOD for the great work he did here and wish him all the best for the future.”

Spot on. Excellent sentiment. SO'D did a great job in a short time. Many people here **** him off and make many unjust comments.
SO'D was treated poorly by Fawaz. AMc was not supported by Fawaz.
I fail to see why managers are placed in untenable positions at Forest.
I reckon SO'D and Cotterill would have made a good team. Cotterill as the motivator and SO'D as the tactician.
For those out there who compare the fractious and arrogant nature of BD to that of Brian Clough, please note........BD is not and never will be as good as Brian.
I reckon BD was brought in by Fawaz to curry favour with "fans" who keep banging on with BRING BACK BILLY.
Forest will not go up this season with Billy in charge. They will not go up next season with Billy in charge. They will never go up with Billy in charge.
Billy will put out a different side every week. He will spend WAY too much time trying to counter any ability the opposition may have.
I couldn't care less if I get more red arrows than the RAF for this post. I am right.
Although.............I will be more than delighted if the great BD proves me to be talking out of my @rse.”

“Does anyone else get the impression that some fans are just desperate for Billy to fail so that they can say we told you so, you shouldn't have sacked SOD, he was building something wonderful. It might have sounded good on the radio but it didn't often look good from where I was sitting. Anyway I'm off to bed now, early start in the morning, Bristol is a pig to get to!”

“Expat - well said
Fans like Huey/Mickey C have no idea what respect is!
They demand loyalty from players and managers but should they have a poor performance feel entitled to abuse and ridicule.
SOD did his level best, i have no doubt he gave every waking thought to making our club the best he could. For that Huey/Mickey and now Roland will at every opportunity S*******G the man off!
Why - because he wasnt Billy!
Now watch these same characters demand loyalty and patience because this naive and laughingly inconsistent Owner has bowed to the big mouths and brought him back.
Huey demanded a badge of honour when he and his drunken mates abused and threatened fellow forest fans in the car park for disagreeing with the vitriol they were pouring on our late chairman!
Says it all really!”

“SOD worked wonders given the sh@t storm he inherited. He is refreshingly cerebral, your thinking fans totty as it were. Billy is passion, fire and in a fight you'd want him on your side. Imagine those talents merged in one, intelligence, vision, a philosphy of how the game should be played matched with passion, wit, man management, drive that's scary - oh, we've seen that in a certain Sir Brian Howard Clough.
Lets show them both the decorum and respect they deserve. Huey, no need to sl@g off SOD, he's gone. I for one would stand him a pint anytime and wish them both all the very best”

I think we should all agree that someone with your obvious considered knowledge of football should be the arbitrator of what makes a good manager.
You are right though, that some who contribute to these boards are arrogant idiots!”
