Retford primary school narrowly misses out on Ofsted top marks

A NOTTS school narrowly missed out on gaining the best-possible marks in its Ofsted inspection.

Bracken Lane Primary and Nursery, in Retford, was visited in January.

In the report, which has just been published, it was given a "good" rating in all areas.

Lead inspector Nigel Grimshaw said only minor changes needed to be made to make it "outstanding". He said a small minority of teaching needed improving, as did pupils' attainment by the age of seven.

The report did praise the progress made by children.

Mr Grimshaw said: "Teachers plan work for the pupils that is interesting and enjoyable, and which motivates them to learn well.
